Florida Joker Demands $2 Million From Rockstar Games Over GTA 6 Trailer Parody

7 years after Rockstar Games was unsuccessfully sued by Lindsay Lohan for allegedly using her likeness without her consent in Grand Theft Auto, the publisher potentially faces another lawsuit—this time from a man who claims he was parodied in the GTA 6 trailer. A Florida man has demanded $2 million from Rockstar Games for allegedly featuring his parody in the GTA 6 trailer.
Lawrence Sullivan, better known as the Florida Joker, has uploaded a series of videos on TikTok claiming that a non-player character (NPC) that appears towards the end of the trailer has been based on his appearance.
The first trailer of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), which confirmed the open-world game’s 2025 release, appears to have parodied more than just one ‘Florida man’ headline, with references including an alligator wandering in a store, police officer chasing a naked man on the streets and a woman twerking on the roof of a moving car.
Now, Sullivan, who is convinced one of the NPCs with purple hair and face tattoos was inspired by him, wants to “talk” with Rockstar Games, the publisher of the GTA series.
In his first clip, the 29-year-old said: “You might have seen that character in the GTA 6 trailer, you know they got that character with the face tattoos.
“You know who they got that inspired by? By me.”
“Just look me up, “Florida Joker”, “Miami Joker”, you know what I’m talking about.”
He concluded the video by saying: “GTA, we gotta talk.”
In 2022, Sullivan hit the headlines following his arrest for possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed firearm.
Some in the gaming community think the purple-haired GTA 6 character, whose news report shot made a 2-second appearance in the trailer, bears an uncanny resemblance to the Florida Joker.
Others suggested he is “hallucinating”, prompting Sullivan to post another video in which he points out the similarities in a side-by-side thumbnail of a Youtube video titled “All GTA 6 Real Life Florida Man References”.
“We gotta talk GTA, or [if not], you guys gotta give me $1 million or 2,” he says.
The demands have been perceived as a threat to sue Rockstar Games for copyright infringement, as Sullivan claims the GTA 6 trailer used his likeness.
The potential lawsuit also rekindles memories of the 2016 case that Lindsay Lohan lost to Rockstar Games after claiming that one of her swimsuit photos had been parodied as a beachgoer taking a selfie in a GTA V loading screen.
