EXCLUSIVE | Ranveer Singh In Ranbir Kapoor's Brahmastra 2 Is 'Fake News'

Hold your horses, cinema lovers. Before you celebrate this mega casting coup of Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor coming together for Brahmastra Part 2: Dev, read this.

Ranveer Singh In Ranbir Kapoor's Brahmastra Is 'Fake News'

Among the lies that masquerade as 'news' on several entertainment portals, the one about Ranveer Singh joining the cast of Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt's Brahmastra is priceless. And not in a good way. Not only is casting way too suffused with a backstory — Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor have a history — no producer can afford to sign the two stars, as neither will accept a penny less than the other.
Says a source very close to the project, "The second part of the Brahmastra trilogy is unlikely to have another major star. No producer can afford it. After Animal, Ranbir is likely to re-negotiate his price. It stands at around Rs 60 crore now. To bring in Ranveer would be a blow to the budget as he would charge no less than Ranbir. As of now, no other actor — not even Ranveer — has been approached. The only surety is that Dharma Production is still on as the salient producer. Another producer is likely to be brought in later. Only then will Brahmastra 2’s cast be expanded. Right now Ayan Mukerji is working on War 2. Brahmastra 2 won’t begin before 2026."
For the unversed, a recent report claimed that Ranveer Singh has agreed to play the role of Dev in Brahmastra Part 2: Dev, the second part of the trilogy, directed by Ayan Mukerji and procured by Dharma Productions. The report by News18 read, "Ranveer Singh has been finalised to play the role of Dev. He has signed the dotted line. The scripting for the second part is still in progress and the film is expected to roll in 2025. Currently, Ayan is busy with War 2 and Ranveer will also begin shooting for Baiju Bawra this year. So, when Brahmastra 2 will go on floors is still unclear."
To jog your memory, towards the end of Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva, it was revealed that the second part would be titled Brahmastra Part 2: Dev, where Dev would be the prime antagonist.
